Police Expose Fake Document on VIP Security Withdrawal

The Nigeria Police Force has officially declared that a viral document circulating on social media, which claimed to order the immediate withdrawal of police officers from VIP protection duties, is completely fake and should be disregarded by the public.

In a statement issued on Friday, November 28, 2025, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, clarified that the document did not originate from the police and contains false information designed to mislead Nigerians.

Details of the Fabricated Document

The controversial document had been widely shared across various social media platforms, claiming to be from the 50 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron in Abuja. It allegedly instructed all police officers attached to certain individuals to report back to their base immediately.

According to CSP Hundeyin, the document was fraudulently attributed to CSP Suleiman Abdullahi, who was described as the Admin Officer of the squadron. However, the police spokesperson revealed crucial inconsistencies that exposed the document as fake.

There is no officer named CSP Suleiman Abdullahi serving in 50 PMF Squadron, and the position of Admin Officer in any PMF squadron is not held by an officer of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police.

Genuine Implementation of Presidential Directive

While dismissing the fake document, CSP Hundeyin confirmed that the actual implementation of President Bola Tinubu's directive on withdrawing police officers from VIP duties has indeed commenced.

The police force emphasized that the process is being carried out in a structured, phased, and professional manner to prevent any security vacuum that criminal elements could exploit.

Our priority remains the safety and security of all Nigerians, and measures have been put in place to ensure absolute maintenance of law and order throughout the transition period, Hundeyin stated.

Background of Presidential Security Reforms

President Bola Tinubu recently ordered the immediate withdrawal of police officers attached to Very Important Persons (VIPs) across Nigeria, directing their redeployment to strengthen core policing functions nationwide.

The directive was issued during a high-level security meeting held last Sunday at the State House in Abuja, reflecting the administration's determination to enhance police presence in communities amid escalating security threats.

Under the new arrangement, VIPs who still require security escorts will now rely on well-armed operatives from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), allowing the Nigeria Police Force to refocus on crime prevention, law enforcement, and rapid-response duties.

This decision addresses years of public concern about the heavy deployment of police personnel to private individuals, politicians, businessmen, and other privileged persons, which has left many towns and villages severely understaffed.

In numerous remote communities, police stations operate with limited manpower, making it challenging to effectively protect citizens from bandit attacks, kidnappings, and other violent crimes.

Comprehensive Security Enhancement Measures

Recognizing these security gaps, President Tinubu has pushed for a significant rebalancing of police resources. To support this initiative, he has approved the recruitment of 30,000 additional police officers nationwide.

The Federal Government is also collaborating with state governments to upgrade police training facilities and improve the capacity of both new and serving officers.

CSP Hundeyin has urged the public to rely exclusively on official channels for accurate information and to refrain from sharing unverified documents that could undermine public confidence in the police force.

The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the protection of lives and property at all times, he concluded.
