Bauchi State Embraces Technology to Transform Education Sector

The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has taken a significant step toward educational transformation by exploring a partnership with private technology firm New Globe. The collaboration aims to deploy comprehensive technology solutions to enhance service delivery and monitoring in the state's education system.

Addressing Educational Challenges Through Innovation

During a presentation to SUBEB officials on Friday, November 14, 2025, Dr. Ahmed Golori, the Team Lead of New Globe, highlighted the pressing educational issues facing Northern Nigeria. Educational poverty remains a critical concern, manifested through high numbers of out-of-school children, persistent teacher absenteeism, and ineffective teaching methods that undermine learning outcomes.

Dr. Golori explained that the proposed '360-degree solutions' technology would create a comprehensive support system spanning all aspects of SUBEB's education framework. The innovative model enables authorities to monitor when administrators and teachers begin work and deliver lessons, with oversight capabilities extending to the Board's Chairman or even the State Governor.

The technology partnership offers dual benefits: guiding Bauchi State in accessing educational grants while providing crucial technical support for implementation. New Globe brings proven experience, having successfully executed similar projects in Edo, Lagos, Bayelsa, Kwara, and Jigawa states, alongside operations in six countries worldwide.

Strengthening Commitment to Educational Excellence

Alhaji Adamu Mohammed Duguri, the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, expressed the state's readiness to collaborate with New Globe in reforming the education system. Duguri emphasized the Board's commitment to delivering quality service and willingness to partner with any organization that can enhance educational outcomes.

Under Duguri's leadership, SUBEB has prioritized reducing the out-of-school children menace while simultaneously improving education infrastructure and equipment to support learning. The Board has committed to reviewing the proposed partnership and determining the appropriate modalities for project implementation.

Crackdown on Education Infrastructure Theft

In a related development demonstrating SUBEB's commitment to protecting educational resources, the Board has arrested one Umar Abubakar for allegedly stealing school desks from Yelwan Kundum Primary School in Bauchi Local Government Area.

Abdulmuminu Jibrin, the Permanent Secretary of SUBEB, confirmed that security operatives apprehended the suspect on Friday night following a tip-off from vigilant community leaders. Jibrin warned that strict measures are in place to prosecute anyone caught stealing educational materials, emphasizing the Board's determination to ensure justice serves as a deterrent to others.

SUBEB has pledged to continue collaborating with security agencies and local communities to protect school properties from theft and vandalism, creating a secure environment conducive to learning.
